Patient Educator Services

Meet Julie Phillips, WHC's first OB Patient Educator.  "I'm going to be there to help mothers prepare and plan for the birth of their baby and all of us at WHC want to build a trusitng relationship with mothers and families, encouraging them to be active participants in their healthcare.  We want to help them make good decisions for their health and the health of their babies from their first visit until they deliver."

Although the numbers will vary, Phillips may follow 150 to 200 pregnant women at a time, each for six to seven months.  She will be a liaison and educator as the women move through the hospital's healthcare system.

This position is designed so that women will be more involved with their own care and build long-term relationships with their providers.

Phillips can help coordinate the following needs of your obstetrics care:

  • Prenatal information
  • Childbirth preparation
  • Cesarean information
  • Breastfeeding preparation
  • Newborn care instruction
  • Sibling education
